In 1980, Jerry offered me a full-time permanent position with Gordon Newsfilms and Audio-Visual Productions. My position filling vacation relief at KGO-TV (as it was called then) was coming to a close. Former Gordon employees there told me they wished they were still working for Jerry. That was all any sane man needed to hear.

For very close to three decades Jerry, and then you John, provided me a stable work life. I learned a lot from both of you. And it was a rewarding experience to add my contribution to what would become Gordon Productions. Wow, we had some great times!

Jerry did always care about everyone around him. He worked hard to provide the clients a quality product that delivered. And he could be a force of strength to make sure the freelancers were provided their due. All the while, his good humor and positive outlook kept us forging on ahead.

He couldn't have dreamed of all the avenues that would open up for GP. He did know handing over the reins to you, they would be in good hands. Jerry's way of living is now a tradition that lives on.

Enjoyed the posting about your dad. He truly lived a remarkable life, as did many from his generation. What a wonderful way to remember him. Gordon Productions is definitely keeping his legacy alive and well.

Hi John, Great blog so far! I too enjoy the "atmosphere" of the OR. Every OR is different. Some Doctors want absolute silence while some insist on music of all sorts. I worked in an OR in Las Vegas where the Docs and Nurses were passing around their iPods and saying "play this song" etc. That environment made me a little nervous, but in the end they did a great job for the patient, so who's to say?
